    Router collets

I have an old cheap 1/4" router, which has broken. Of course I have 1/4" router bits for this. I have bought a 1/2" router (Dewalt 625ES) and I whilst any new router bits I buy will be 1/2" ones, I would like to be able to use my 1/4" bits. I understand you can get a collet for this, but...

    Delta sander

I have aquired a Delta SA446 belt/disc sander with a burnt out motor. My intention was to try and source a replacement motor, but there are no markings at all on the motor, not even a manufacturer name, which makes it a bit tricky. However, knowing that a lot of stuff is made in china etc and...

    Turnings from the weekend

Here is a Spalted Beech bowl I turned yesterday. It is about 8"X3" And a large rimmed platter I did on saturday. The photos seem to distort the rim and look like it is angled outward, it is in fact almost dead flat. I had intended to colour the rim and gold leaf the dish area, but once...

    Bandsaw woes

Hi All, looking for a bit of advice. I did something silly with my bandsaw, You know, one of those, "I shouldn't really, but I am sure it will be fine!" type things, resulted in a blade jam and throwing off the drive belt. The blade looked fine, when I removed it from the saw and held it up I...

    Club directory

I think perhaps turning is a bit different (perhaps we are more sociable LOL) than general woodworking in that turners tend to attend clubs. Seeing a recent post requesting info on clubs in the Ipswich area, I thought it may be an idea to have some sort of club directory? I have joined a...

Think I have got myself a bargain........

Chatting to an aquaintence this morning, he said "I don't suppose you want to buy a De Walt Router do you?" So I asked the price and was told I could have it for £50, having made further enquiries I found it was a DW825E 2000W 1/2" variable speed router and in excess of £200 to buuy new. I did...

Those lovely people at Axminster have.........

come up trumps again :D I managed to cross-thread the thread in my tailstock, I have just been on the phone to them, £22 including next day postage. That is for both threaded parts. I think that is very cheap, I thought it was going to come to much more than that, and they are in stock, that...

    Got to build a cabinet

I need to build a cabinet. It is for storage in our utility room, to go along a wall, wall to wall, it will be just over 2m long. We have two cats as well as a dog, so to give the cats somewhere to eat in peace the cats will eat on it, and as such needs a durable surface such as kitchen...

    Steve Maskery DVDs (4&5)

I bought the Steve Maskery workshop essentials 4 & 5 to give me some tips and help with my new bandsaw. Very good clear instruction, learned heaps and some usefull jigs. I think Steve must have so many jigs that he doesn't have room left to do any work! Thanks Steve, money well spent.

    Turning tool rack

I am just embarking on making a tool rack for my turning tools. I have bought some 12mm dowel and some 2x1 and I intend to fit the dowels at a slight incline to prevent the tools rolling off, but my question is how far apart should my dowels be vertically? and I guess horizontally?

    New workshop build

I know there should be pictures, but I haven't taken any  But I have been busy with building a new workshop, I have approached it in a pre-fab type way, built all 4 sides flat on the floor and clad them, then stood them up and fixed them together. We are just beyond that stage, now...
