J Lyon's and Co (cafe in piccadilly) opened in 1894 originally known as Lyon's corner house.
I also remember the ABC tea rooms and cafe Sloane square and the Lyons corner house oxford st. and tottenham court rd.
 
And then the all night cafe on Waterloo Bridge that had an alcohol licence, or go to Billingsgate Market for a late drink.

Back when cling film first came out, my mate took a roll into a night club we used to frequent, sipped into the ladies loo, lifted the seat and stretched the clingfilm over the porcelain.
Some very damp patches about that night.
One of my school teachers did that, not long before she was sacked for smoking role ups with a certain herbal quality about them. We still used to see her down the pub until we were old enough to drink in pubs with more regard for the licensing laws. Hope you're still in the land of the living Miss ****** you taught us a lot - some of it legal.
