I have two very close relatives in the police. Hardly a day passes now when there isn't reason to worry.

It's the casual, matter-of-fact bravery and professionalism of so many police that remains humbling. I know of one policewoman who went unarmed into a farmhouse, knowing there was an intruder armed with a shotgun. There was nobody else to do it, she said later. She arrested the man.

Thoughts and prayers are with the families and colleagues. I just hope they get the scum dealing the weapons too.

E.

PS: someone tell me why this murderer doesn't merit the death penalty - I can't see it, myself.

The thing that gets me with this excuse for a human is that he will go to prison and have as comfortable life as someone in the average old people's home.

I think he deliberately planned it, he knew he was due to be caught, tried, and go down for the previious murders so now he will be in prison and all the inmates will be scared of him and he will get what he wants. The 'mugs' of this country (that's you, me, and all those other law abiding citizens) will provide him with fully heated accomodation, three meals a day, clothing, almost any book, newspaper, or magazine he wants, TV radio and internet entertainment, and he'll never need to work, ever, for his whole life, to someone like him it's going to be heaven on earth.
