Hi all. I am about to revive an old slope, or I think a clerks box. I have no idea of age or exactly what it is, I like to know some history before a revamp. Does anyone have any idea what it is exactly or what era it came from. Photos attached.

The screws will tell you a bit if you take one out and see if it has a pointy end or not. I think it was mid 1800 when they started putting points on the ends, but you'll have to check that out to be sure.

Not an expert, I used to have one in my office that was about 7 feet long - the top didn’t lift up but there were drawers under and that was Victorian. I suspect yours might have been home-made with all those screws on show. Ian
