    BS400 Bandsaw Upper Guide Question/Concern

I removed the silly side guide discs from my BS350 and replaced them with ebony blocks, works for me. I also replaced the screw that holds the back guide disc, that didn't work to well although the minuscule movement doesn't seem to matter. I then replaced the back guide disc with a disc i cut...

    Bandsaw blades

IF you clean the saw well, i.e. no dust. It is possible to get a dull blade to cut by holding an old sharpening stone lightly against the running blade. It won't cut like a replacement of course but it will get you out of trouble. But be sure to get rid of all dust first, and I'm not...

    Heating the workshop

I've used a Dimplex oil rad. on a plug in timer for several years, my 5mt by 4 mt shed always been comfortable, although it is only insulated in the roof. I had a cheapie halogen before that good, but not as robust and I prefer the oil rad. because there's less to worry about fire wise

    My plane has dentils.

I'm no expert, but my understanding is that the 'v' lines running from the back of the handle on the second plane were introduced so that 'green' castings could be worked. Previously castings were stood outside after forging to 'weather' and allow any stresses to show before the casting was...

    Absolute bargain

The last one I saw in the flesh, was £65, at a local carboot 3 years ago, guess inflation has struck since then !! Yes I would have bought it, but it was already in somebodies sticky mitt, I got there as he was counting out the money. Mind it didn't have the box so it probably wasn't worth...

    Moseley plow plane

Hi, just read your post, nice plane, IF I read it right your back skate is 0.5mm lower than the front skate? Seems about right to support the blade at the very back of the tip,as it cuts. Hope you haven't yet filed it level, the 'v' grove is the mating surface in the blade that fits the skate for...

    Tape for sanding belts

In an effort to cut costs, I'm seeking to make my own sanding belts. Does any one have any info on the reinforced tape that is used on the joint of these ? I've searched the local retailers, and experimented with gaffer tape etc. but no joy. If anyone has any idea of what is used and where to...

Kity 613 Bandsaw - help please

To test for co-planar you could take a strip of ply, and using one straight edge cut out a "C" so that you have a strip with 2 straight edges that will reach around the sawtable. Thus allowing you to reach both wheels for trueing. Regards Cans
