    CamVac Test

I have the twin motor CamVac. I was picking up shavings off the floor with both motors running, the end of the hose sucked it self to the floor then the CamVac shot across the workshop like lighting. So yes 2 motors are powerful.

    Another dust extraction question!

I have just planed up a piece of sw into 4 lengths of 2000x44x28. Ripped them out on the bandsaw then onto the overhand planer finally through the thicknesser. It filled up to 3/4 full, just emptied it into a bin bag. Yes a chip extractor is best for planers but it's all about compromise, only...

    Another dust extraction question!

I just got the CamVac GV336 4" with twin motors. I like it because you can just use a single motor or 2 for those bigger jobs.

Worth the £30 spent plus they give you £5 credit to watch a film from the android Playstore. We watched The Railway man last night with...

    MFT Table

I have been using my MFT/3 for a while now along with my TS55. I am very pleased with them, in fact I find them so versatile that I use them more than my TS200. I have added a couple of pictures showing the versatility of the combination. I am making a bed headboard incorporating 9 mm t&g boards...

    Problem with planing

That is the oak reacting with the metal of your plane. This usually happens if the oak is damp or water comes in contact between the oak and your plane.

    Problem with planing

If planing by hand try using a block plane with the throat closed up more than usual and go across the grain where the grain keeps changing.

Filling in knot holes in oak

I sometimes think it looks better to leave the knots a lone if not to big on oak. After all it is the character of the timber. I know that it is not always possible, but sometimes the filler looks worse than the knot. I bet I get some stick for this.

Axminster TS250 for first table saw?

I have the TS 200 and I have found this to be a good little saw after some fettling. The only problem I have had with it is the table slots are not a standard size so I had to use the supplied mitre fence (which I found to be useless) I bought the sliding table which I think transforms the saw.
