One place I worked they sent the new guy out to the boiler house for a bucket of steam to clean the grease off the forklift.

And as an apprentice the boss sent the new fork lift truck driver to shipping to pick up a huge steel roller for a printing press.
Two hours later he returned empty handed and told the boss, " The manager at the Ship Inn, has no idea why he'd have a steel roller of ours"

I always understood it to mean "Laugh out loud", unlike my OH who thought it meant "Lots of Love" and used it in her e-mails to relatives.
