Help I broke my plane!

I have done exactly the same to my piece of rubbish stanley no.4 (plastic handles, hence rubbish).

I managed to screw mine back in though, it is very hard to engage the thread but it is possible. I haven't managed to lock it in place yet though, it is tight enough to be usable but I have to be carefull when I raise/lower the blade. I plan to just carefully retap the thread then put the rod back in with a dab of locktite.

You can lock two adjusters together on the threaded rod to give you more grip, assuming you have more than one plane!
