this was meant to be for my ever suffering wife for Christmas, but I got excited and showed her. it's mahogany, cherry and tulip at about 4mm thick, all hand resawn and planed. finished with homemade beeswax (wax sourced from a local honey producer). oh and the cheery was cut from a tree 2 years ago by me, the mahogany is from a shelve in the garage (that's being replaced) and the tulip/Cherry is pallet wood. rather pleased with it if I'm honest. oh and the handprints are the 3 year son and 8 week old daughters.
Willbob and Annas hands. In cherry, tulip and mahogany. By kustommade by David Rees, on Flickr
now I've got to make a box so it can be the lid, so that means more resawing, yey.
ps. can you guess which bit got flung across the garage and lost for ever meaning I had to make a new one and hope for the best?
