I picked up a Swiss Elu MOF96 (original version, not E) yesterday and I've read about replacing the bearings here, but I don't really know if I need to - the shaft seems to turn reasonably freely and I can't feel any play but the noise of the router does change as it slows down. Its quite loud when switched on, but my other router is too at full speed I guess
How do I work out if the bearings need changing? I may need to work out how to strip it anyhow, since the plunge posts seems to be almost totally seized. Maybe I should just pass it on to someone who knows what they are doing :?

Whether you give it a go yourself, or get someone else to do it, either way get it done as a matter of course. The bearings went on my Elu, and it hadn't given me any noise or vibe warnings, it fubared the bearing housings and was fit for the skip. I still mourn the loss of that router
