I want to reduce the height of a Magnet exterior dowelled door from 78" to 76" taking about 1/2" from top and 1 1/2" from bottom, the guy at Magnet says it should be ok but will not guarantee the door.

It seems a lot to remove to me - any thoughts?

Hi

At the end of the day unless you want to have something made to measure, then you are stuck with it. Whilst it is not ideal, as long as you make sure the bottom of the door is decorated properly then it should not be too much of a issue. If the width of the bottom rail is wide enough i would take the full 2" from here. Reducing the top rail will make it look odd against the width of the stiles.

Enjoy
