Hi all,

I'm new here, and new to woodturning. I recently bought a Record Power DML 24x and it came with a chuck as shown in the photo. Does anyone know what make this is? The steel ring is well jammed but I assume that, if I can free it, the screw chuck will come out so it can work as a jaw chuck. Is that right..?

Thanks for any help!

Jon

Thanks Paul. Yes, it does seem to be on some second hand Record lathes that are for sale but I can't find any info on it. Guess it's obsolete now!

Cheers

It's not a bad chuck, but perhaps a little fiddly compared to a scroll one. There should be a hole in the narrow part you are holding. You loosed off the knurled ring by having a rod in each hole and turning....anti-clockwise I think...

To remove the screw chuck from the main body you'll need to use the C spanner and a metal rod (hopefully these were also supplied). It'll also be a lot easier if you attach the chuck to the lathe.
