And don't ask me how to pronouce it. It's one of those things we have to confuse the english. Like Kirkcaldy. Or Kirkcudbright. And many more.

I remember a Post House Wynd in Darlington. It had a coffee bar, which tells you how long ago that was. It was a narrow walkway off the market place, somewhere near The Falchion.
 
According to my wife it's an alley or ginnel. I'd say alley way, passage or passageway. We're both from Dorset although my mother was Cornish so I sometimes come out with an expression that is foreign to my wife, even after forty two years.
