    Gun display rack

Presumably they're all decommisioned! :-) Can't imagine having it my place but each to their own I suppose! Nice work though. The foam is neatly done too.

    Handwriting

I used to use a fountain pen quite a lot when I was younger. Probably because of my dad's influence. He bought me a couple of books by Tom Gourdie when I was a kid and always had an interest in handwriting. Think he probably knew Gourdie as well. Haven't picked one up in years though. My...

Where do you store your w/working books - workshop or house?

House. W/s not particularly well sealed from the elements!

    One Japanese Chisel?

Derek Agreed, not a blanket condemnation but seemed to be the parers that were causing problems. If the problem was indeed caused by the manufacturing process then it was surely potentially present in all paring chisels (?). Admittedly the thread was from back in 2007 so they may well have...

    One Japanese Chisel?

If that's the Iyoroi ones I'd advise against. They curl up over time. Something to do with them being rolled as part of the manufacturing process according to DC. There's a post about it donkeys ago with pics of my curled up 25mm parer

    best squares?

Moore & Wright engineers squares. Avoid woodworking squares with wooden stocks. They look nice but are usually out of square

    Old Chisels

Yup, I have a small metalworking lathe that used to be my old man's. It's one of the rebadged Sieg things. Poor quality really but it's fine for handles and knobs. Not ideal obviously but good enough. Has continuous variable speed too, which is nice. I just use a piece of mild steel square bar...

    Old Chisels

Like Shim says, lovely steel! Be a shame not to get them back in working order. I just cleaned up and re-handled a Howarth 1/2" bench chisel myself last week and it's a nice tool. Think the last one might just be JB Addis (?). If so absolutely top quality carving tools
