Bought a cheap quartz clock movement a while ago and have been playing with designs for a clock to go on the mantelpiece. Tried a few designs and settled on this. Modeled and rendered in Fusion 360. Couple of hours in the workshop and made this prototype. Main body is Iroko and the feet a...

    Tool box

I have been playing around with Fusion 360 CAD and this is a tool box I have been working on. Not my design but pinched off the web. Fusion includes rendering, I need to sort out the grain direction on some of the faces. Fusion is free for hobbyists and small companies (turnover up to $100,000).

    Lie-Nielsen Toolworks customer service

Hi, I haven't posted here for ages but thought this was worth posting. I managed to drop my Lie Nielsen chisel plane and snap the thumb screw that clamps the blade a couple of weeks ago. After a few choice words I sent an email to them asking about the availability of a replacement as I...

    1960 toolbox.

I have recently been given a lovely hand made metal toolbox by my Aunt who has just celebrated her 100th birthday. A sad story as it belonged to her son who was killed in a motorbike accident in 1960 when he was only 18 and an apprentice at Lucas. It has been hidden away in a cupboard at her...

    woodrat mods

Tony PM'd me asking for details of the mods to my woodrat and I said I would post some details here. The mod is the addition of a pivoting plate under the router mounting plate. This allows the the cutting of dovetail pins without messing about removing the guide rails and fitting the button...

    Trend T5 problem.

Using My T5 in the woodrat at the weekend I noticed a lot of side to side play when plunging. Not noticed it before but the plunge was a bit sticky and if I grip the router tightly I can rock it from side to side. It's about 7 years old but has only had hobby use. Are there replaceable bushes...

Sapele Cabinet-long post with lots of pics.

I recently made some exterior doors from Sapele and had a fair bit left over so decided to make a small cabinet. It is 24" tall, 16" wide and 15" deep. The size mainly dictated by what timber I had. After planing/thicknessing and edge jointing I had this pile of bits. The panels were cut...
