Help needed identifying timber (additional pictures added).

I wonder if anyone can help identify the different types of timber in the attached picture and what value there might be involved. Lengths are between 3 and 5 meters. Comments gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

    Expanding Built-in Wardrobes

We have three rooms in our home each containing a built-in wardrobe. Due to growing children, we need to carry out some room shuffling and create extra space. Rather than buy (or heaven forbid make something), I would like to modify the built-in wardrobes so that the space contained can be...

    Best 9' x 18' Workshop Layout Ever?!

I recently bought a copy of Fine Woodworking Workshop Solutions. In it was an article by Matthew Teague on setting up a shop in a 9'x18' space. Fortuately it is a Free Download. It is the one of the best layouts I have seen in a space that size. Of course it assumes the tools that you have...

    Table Saw Cabinet

I am going to build a table saw cabinet like the one below (pic 1) for my table saw (pic 2). Main reasons are to utilise the space underneath the saw and to collect as much dust as possible in the top drawer. There is a dust port built into the back of the top drawer for extraction. The...

    US Magazines

I have just returned from a trip to the US (golfing holiday). On one day we passed a bookstore called Books In A Million and was able to drop in for 20 minutes. After escaping from the cashier who insisted on telling me about their loyalty card (even although I was leaving the country the next...

    Filling Screws in MDO

I have a friend who has painted a mural on MDO (external grade MDF?), about 8 boards in total. The mural was attached to the outside of a building. They need a way of covering the screwheads and then painting over them. Can anyone recommend a suitable filler? Thanks D

Using 3/4" Wardrobe Rail To Support Timber

Would pieces of 3/4" wardrobe rail be good enough to support timber or would 3/4" dowel be better? I can get 4m for £10. I'm sure dowel would be more expensive than that. There would be 4 supports over an 8ft span with a shelf on top. D

    My Timber Storage Solution

After having problems with timber falling off my current storage solution (pic below, there is now a lot more timber now), I have decided to build something that would allow me to store long boards and small pieces safely. Based on an idea in "The Home Workshop" by the editors of Woodsmith...

How do you store your timber?

As my stock of timber slowly (very slowly) increases, I am looking for ways to store the timber that I am not using. I was wondering what others do with theirs. I have some space inside the garage and I will shuffle that around at the moment. If necessary though, I have thought of using this...

    Record Imp Vice

I have a vice called the "Record Imp No 80" and wondered if anyone knew anything about it. It is small, red in colour and designed to be clamped to a surface. I have done a Google search but I think record and vice/vise have other meanings! Thanks D

    Storage Shed Design

I have been tasked with purchasing a shed that will allow the storage of bicycles and toys. It needs to allow children to open it and access the stuff inside. It can be 6' or 7' wide but only around 3' deep and ideally 4'6" or 5' in height. After looking around the sheds I found were around...

    Sawdust Is Getting Me Down

Over the last few days I have spent quite a bit of time sweeping and clearing up sawdust. To be honest it has got to me as I don't have anything to catch stuff from my table saw or thicknesser. After looking at some options, (why is there always a bewildering array), I have come up with three...
