Thanks Waka.

Started with A Cabinetmaker's Notebook. It just appealled when I picked it up.

I can appreciate and aspire to what he is saying but my skill level is a million (gazillion!) miles away.

The pictures in the book make me want to touch every surface, open each door to see what is behind it, pull open each drawer. I have always enjoyed furniture that has a functional purpose as well as looks and feels right.

It is an inspiring read.

Dude - you'll find all of those are excellent reading...I have hardback copies of JK's books from the 70's and still like to dip into them. My Joyce book again is an original and now battered first editon from the 70's and is a standard text on most aspects of furniture construction though there are bits of it that are outdated, eg the section on power tools has nothing on biscuit jointers and nothing is covered in the text on biscuiting in general - Rob
