    Saving Youtube favourites!!

There's a better way. when you have the video loaded that you'd like to bookmark, save it instead. If you copy the link into a new tab, then insert 'ss' immediately before 'youtube' it will take you to a site allowing a download in different formats. As follows...

Not a car boot buy but ebay today

Yep, for sharpening chainsaw teeth. Picked one up myself a couple of months ago. Clamp in the teeth, set both horizontal & vertical angles, slide in the correct file & away you go. Back wingnut is for setting distance between teeth.

Making use of old grinding wheels

I've a variety of old wheels (some going to Wildman as a donation) & rather than bin I would like to put to some use. They're quite big, various centre sizes & various grades. Can I utilise as grinding stones; can I cut into smaller manageable pieces, can I do anything with them?? I don't...

    HH Swan Tenon Saw

Thanks for the input. Picked up a forum post about the company a while ago; sounds like a nice little firm. If it was built to order I'll be well happy. It wants a lot of work & I'll leave the recutting until last (not me btw!). I wonder if 'The Demon' was a special order; it would be very very...

    HH Swan Tenon Saw

Hi all, I was rooting through a mess of stuff at a car boot yesterday & came across a 10" tenon saw that looked awful. As I'd already bougfht some odd bits the guy said "take it or it'll go in the bin". I haven't had time to give it a caress but enough to pick out HH S Sheffield England & the...

Can't get my battery charger to elctrolysise

I've used a mobile phone battery, but kept getting intermittent results. Sometimes it worked well & other times not. I then used an old BT hub power supply which worked a treat. As far as the wires go, give it 10 minutes, & don't forget to add baking soda (helps conductivity). All the above is...

why ebay is amazing. check this out :)

Yep, I'm busting to have a look at the drawknife & saw, but it's battening down the hatches time in the garden. I'm not chasing fence panels again!!

why ebay is amazing. check this out :)

Same here. Went to Northampton this morning to collect a range of bits from Ebay; £25. Lovely old (split nuts) Buck handsaw (no time atm to check it thoroughly). Range of King Dick/Britool spanners & other assorted pliers & bits. Lots of old cabinet makers screwies, an unused fence sprayer...

    your tools

I support local charities & organisations in different ways, & it's likely that's where mine will go. My son isn't likely to be interested but my stepdaughter is in some things I have. Could be a grandson/daughter though if I catch them early enough;) .

why ebay is amazing. check this out :)

Very nice. Well done. I had a look at these but Newark is way to far away. Sometimes a cracking deal is to be had locally & I'm prepared to go over to get it. After all, it's an auction. Question... As you're in Bournemouth did you collect?? An awfully long way.

    The unedited John Brown

What a fantastic article. Fabulously written & illustrated. I could read stuff like this all day. (my son has just started Sports Journalism at Uni & I love his footy match reviews) Long live the extension of the hand & eye:)

    Theoretical question on chisel life

Difficult one to pitch, but what's the view from the 'older' craftsmen on here as to the life of a chisel used daily in a work rather than hobby environment? The reason for the question is that as a new collector I'm intrigued by one's use of a tool that they trust/rely on/are married to. I...

Lovely box of old tools on ebay

Hmmm, Lots of vitriol & opinion here.... I for one appreciate the advice/information/insight posted on here. I also appreciate a heads up on something that I may miss on Ebay. As a collector/user being given a nod on something lets me decide its value & thus what I'm prepared to pay. This is...

Do not watch if have a nervous constitution

I'm going to show this to the stepdaughter who passed her test last year. I had a bad one at 17 (aquaplaning into 20 tons of tarmac) & several close ones in 40 years of driving. NOTHING like that    lot

New to the hobby, is this normal?

I got the same, for the enthusiastic ignoramus I made the same mistake. Now I buy old tables & strip them for the good bits. 99p on ebay, local to 10 miles:)

    MAC Timbers

I've known Mike personally for a few years & spoke to him about this less than a couple of weeks ago. It's affecting him badly & I know he's fighting it as much as he can. I reckon there's a personal vendetta going on & as said above, all support given would be much appreciated by him. A great guy.

    best buy.

Not a bad buy! I think I'd do exactly the same TT. I earn my money, people let things go to clear out. Last week I got a great deal from Ebay for £5.30; the guy was disappointed it didn't realise more but accepted it was a deal. We had a good chat & both left amicably. I sell off the cheap stuff...
