If you google how to save YT videos it comes up with a heap of different freeware versions that allow you to copy and paste the URL from YT into their engine. Just choose one of the popular ones and use it (eg clipgrab)

There's a better way.
when you have the video loaded that you'd like to bookmark, save it instead.
If you copy the link into a new tab, then insert 'ss' immediately before 'youtube' it will take you to a site allowing a download in different formats. As follows..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9l4uB9M4v5o

https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=9l4uB9M4v5o

It usually takes around 20 seconds or so to provide the choices of format & quality. It's the big download bit you want to click on.

I load onto my tablet for 'off-road' viewing:)

Or choose another as ROB sez.

No need to download the recording surely for what the OP wants to do. Are they just favourites as in bookmarks in your browser ? Then they are just like any other favourite/bookmark. Export them to a file and preserve them like any other file. Or use the browsers in-built sync functions. BTW I use youtube-dl to save the recording as MP4
