    Circular saw jig

I have almost completed the 'destruction' of my workshop. All the machines have gone and I am reduced to what I can achieve in my garden shed. Has anyone seen or knows of a jig which will enable me to rip narrow strips off long lengths. For example I need to cut a piece of 150mm x 15mm in...

    Where can I buy this?

Has anyone used one of these and knows where I can buy one. It appears to be able to do what I want which is to cut mitres on picture frame sized timber. I have seen it on a German web site but not a UK one. I realise that there are many other methods of cutting mitres but I am only...

    Download YouTube clips

Thanks to a member of this forum I discovered iLivid which I use on my PC. Does anyone know of an App that does the same for a tablet?

    Trouble with an Epson printer

What service do you expect from a printer manufacturer? I have owned an Epson Stylus Photo R320 for some time and last week it started to‘ print‘ blank pages. After checking with the online help without success I telephoned the Epson support line and was advised to install a new set of Epson...

Where can I find this cabinet catch?

This is a repeat of a query on the forum a couple of years ago. I managed to get a few of these through my sister in America but I am disappointed as the metal is very soft and they break easily. Can anyone recommend an alternative for this oak key cabinet? Excuse the photo, a combination of...

    Escutcheon wanted

Does anyone know a supplier of 'insert' escutcheons? I have made a small hanging cupboard which is lockable and need an escutcheon to finish it off. The internal height should be 10mm, OR does anyone have one of these or a small conventional surface mounted escutcheon lying around? I only...

    Continuity of supplies

Are you frustrated? Does it annoy you that a company who has supplied a brand of products for years suddenly drops them? Axminster are the masters of this, introducing new 'brands' which I suspect are variations of own brands. Where does Axcalibur and UJK come from? Many members on this...

    Heater or de-humidifier?

I have a store room for tools (mainly battery powered tools) which also houses metal-working machines. Question -- what would be best to prevent rust? Some heat or a de-humidifier. For various reasons it is not practicable to coat everything in camellia oil or wax. There is no natural...

    Work light for machines

My increasingly poor eyesight makes setting up machines and making cuts very difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions apart from flooding the workshop with light? These may need to be attached to the machine and therefore subject to some vibration.

What tree does this come from?

    20W Tubular heater or alternative

I keep all my wood finishes and paint in a cupboard and have tried to provide a little warmth with a 25W bulb but they keep 'blowing'. How do others manage? Is there such a thing as a 20W tubular heater. The smallest I can find is 40W which is too big fort the space. Brian

    Triton after sales service

Has anyone had any success in making direct contact with Triton? I have a router TRB001 which I bought with a collet reducer. Unfortunately when I use this with a dovetail bit in a router table the bit rises in the collet with each cut I make, ending up with 'stepped' cuts across the board. I...

    Which Table Top Planer/thicknesser?

I am looking for a table top planer/thicknesser for my tiny workshop. I can't afford a floor standing one and in any case there isn't room. It won't get much use. I have used a friend's Woodstar on occasions but I think there must be a better one although I do like the price. I don't like...

    Grinding wheel

I have a small bench grinder and am having difficulty in finding replacement wheels. 125 x 16 (or 20) x 12mm. The existing wheels are marked Weber (German). An internet search has not thrown anything up and two suppliers have not even answered an email enquiry from their web site. Any...

    Sticky wax

I have just finished a small (ish) box with three coats of Danish Oil followed by clear Chestnut wax to finish it off. All coats of finish were left overnight but the final coat remains sticky. This has not happened before. What should I do next? Liberon wax remover and start again?

    More of "What is this?"

May I indulge you again and identify these items. I think they have a role in saw sharpening.

    What is this?

Any idea what this is intended for? It is marked Sorby. There are signs of impact on the handle and the round tapered blade has some pitting. This is one of four in a collection of old tools bought recently at an auction.

    Triton TRB001 Router

Following the enthusiastic reports for this router I decided to invest in one myself. Also taking advantage of Rutlands recent 14% discount I bought a router table top and insert plate. Carefully following the various instructions for once, (real men don't need to read instructions) I removed...
