I had a small piece of English yew offcut, with a wild grain, so I thought I'd try and do something with it.

Not a shape of pen I, personally, like. But done to bring out the grain. Finish is none, just sanded in 14 stages to 12000, so not practical either.
But I still like it - there again I'm biased :D

Nice work laird, the pen looks stunning. I’m assuming as its not practical your going to use it more as a show piece?

No Dan, not quite. I'm going to use it, then I'll see how a "no finish" lasts.
I've a feeling - handling it - that it's going to be tougher than expected. Which will raise interesting thoughts (to me) about wild grain wood, from small items to furniture.
