Hi Guys,
I need some advice. I’ve just turned a platter from Padauk. I had a bit of a problem with it due to its wild grain. Anyway, I got it something like, sanded it to 400, and then made my mistake. I omitted to apply sanding sealer (don’t ask me why, i’ve no idea) before I used True Grit on it. It was only when I came to finish it on my Chestnut buffing system, and got a poor result that I twigged what I had done. I didn’t want to turn it all again (it is pretty thin), so I opted to just apply a finishing wax, and polish by hand.
My question is, could I use a lacquer spray finish on top?

I think you would need to remove the wax using white spirit heating the bowl gently in airing cupboard first then rubbing the white spirit into the pores before washing off with soapy water.
