I have undertaken turning a load of European Oak into sawdust!

Apart from that, here are a few pics of my progress so far.

front and back of island unit. I've got some turned posts for the four corners and worktop is temporary!

Those beads are a pig to cut so small, but my mitres are improving, so are my gaps!

I bought the baskets for £6 each from a gift supplier on the net. All 'on show' panelling is made from resawing planks to 10mm thick, glueing and a LOT of sanding.
I'm about 30% done, so a bit more sawdust to make yet!

Andy

The pictures are all in the wrong order (they were right on the text page), so the descriptions are in the wrong place, sorry!

a few pics of the whole room as it is at the moment.

Some of the old white cabinets are still in place so mrs Pond can use the sink!

Thanks guys, I am really proud of what I have achieved so far, having never done any 'proper' woodworking before. I have said it before but without the help and knowledge of people on here, I really would not have known where to start!

Only things left to do are finish the cabinets, kickboards, plinths, cornices (need to work out how to do these). Make two dresser units, make a surround for the extractor to sit in, plaster the RSJ, fill the walls, paint, put in new lights, self-level the tiled floor, tile the whole floor, remove and replace splahback tiling, fit a Belfast sink, make plantation shutters for the bay windows, oh and fit new worktops!!

Should only take a week or two! :?

Fantastic effort Andy! Can't believe this is your first project! I would be well chuffed if I could make a kitchen like that. Looking forward to seeing the rest...

cheers
Steve

Thanks guys, it means a lot to be recognised by my peers!

The above has taken THREE MONTHS, though, so I'm not very quick!

I also spent 3 months before that researching on here for machinery, tools, timber etc.

I will update the thread when more to show!

I wouldn't worry about it taking you 3 months. Just imagine how much it would of cost to pay a bespoke kitchen firm to make it for you. Better to take your time and make a nice job of it than try and rush it and it annoy you forever.

Wow, what a great job! Your quality and speed of work puts me to shame. Anything I do seems to take at least six months and then does not look as impressive as what you have achieved.
