Hi Everyone, today my neighbours dropped off a Lime tree for me, but as I'm not a carver and don't do much turning I wondered if any of you had any ideas as to what I can do with it?

wow what a shame we are not over this year I wish to start carving and would love some. Maybe we will visit next year in the motorhome. Might I suggest you process it into carving blocks and turning blanks for sale and set aside to season.

First thing to do is coat the exposed end grain ASAP with something to slow moisture loss, this will prevent a lot of cracking you might get otherwise. Melted wax is ideal for this purpose if you can spare a candle or two or a few tea lights.

Then put the wood aside to season for a couple of years and by then you might have an idea of what you'd like to use some of it for :)

Thanks guys that makes sense. Wildman you're welcome to come over in the motorhome. I have plenty of space for it and will swap you some Lime for a couple of carving lessons.
