Hi, I've got an old lathe that I picked up second hand for not a lot. I got it to see if I got on with it and if I really needed one (totally new to turning). I am just a hobby woodworker that likes to make toys and simple things. Well I now know that I wouldn't be without a lathe, but the one I have is far too big for what I need, and takes up far too much space in the shed, it has a limit of 37" but must be about 5' long. I have been looking on line and have come across the Axminster hobby series. Does anyone have any views on these? They are really at the top end of my budget, is there anything better cheaper?
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks in advance
Paul

The little Jet mini is solid, and the record 305

Well thanks to John (Shay Vings), my troubles are sorted. I am now the owner of a Record 305, at a very fair price. I have only just got it home and haven't had time to try it yet but it looks great.
Thanks to everyone that replied.
Paul
