I was thinking of using Idigbo or Sapele to make quite a large window, 8ft x 5ft.

It contains 8 sashes and there is quite a lot of support etc but what are both timbers like in keeping their straightness over long lengths?

Idigbo seems to be cheaper but is it as hardy as sapele for this sort of weather resistance joinery?

Thanks in advance!
George

Edit: Ohhh also, is Idigbo a bit nasty on the senses like Iroko?

For a better quality finish go with Sapele. Idigbo will do the job but will need more protection and probably more filler than sapele in the making of it, as it tends to suffer tearout with ease!
