Hi all. Attached are images of a recent backsaw I completed. A sweet piece of Tiger Myrtle was used to make the handle and the colors that characterise the timber so well are displayed at their finest. The saw plate has been sharpened rip and is 9 inches in length, 2 1/4 deep below the brass back, and is 16 tpi. The 1st inch and a half of toe end teeth have no set applied to allow a soft start to the sawn kerf. As you will note there are still some fine scratches to buff out on the saw plate which I will get to later on.

Regards. Stewie;

Looks great, love the handle, what method did you use to set the saw?

Mick

Hi Mick. Usual method of applying set was used. Using masking tape each side of the saw plate as a packing agent the saw teeth were then clamped in a machine vise to reduce the set to the packing thickness. Works very well for high tpi saws.

Beautifully neat work on the handle - I love the contrast between the smooth curves, and the sharp arrises.
