but even if you buying cheaper equipment you don't expect that to happen!

I bought a cheap drill set at a hobby show once. The first time I tried to use one, it un-twisted and I ended up with a very blunt straight-fluted drill bit... Needless to say the rest of the set went into the bin without even being tried - case came in handy though.
