I see plenty of planer/thicknessers but no stand alone planers.
Are there any 250-300m planers with nice long tables available, 13a and 16a?
Thanks.

There are lots of them on the secondhand market but they aren't that popolar so lots of people don't realize that they still have some value.
Too small capacity for professionals and take up too much space for the average hobbyist. Hence they tend to be cheap.

I was recently offered a 300mm (I think) E.V.Beronius for 300 euros. It is a late model with modern ball bearings though the cutterhead looked a bit suspect. Very skillfully motorized with a Strömberg motor. The installation looked almost factory made.

Known also as a jointer, check prices with axminster etc and E bay if you fancy good old quality cast iron or second hand.
Many prefer the planer thicknesser to save space and costs.
The link may help below I can't recommend any specific models, apart from the old stuff.

Thanks for your imput.

There arent many, certainly not single phase.

I used to have a multico NS surface planer single phase many years ago. Lovely machine cast tables but with sheet steel base so not too heavy. They come up for sale occasionally, but not that common.

This is what the multico looks like:

Wadkin did the BFT surface planer, they often appear on ebay. I think 9" and 12" options.

Ive recently upgraded my surface planer and have a 16" wadkin RZ which Im looking to sell, but I expect thats too big. (1830mm x 400mm 630kg).

i looked a couple of years ago, for something slightly smaller- prob 9" give or take, with what you are looking for as an option. there seem to be very few around- as Robin says.

In the end, I got a tersa bladed planer thicknesser which I only generally use in planer mode, and use my lunchbox thicknesser as a standalone. I may extend the tables with a roller section on, but it isn't the next job in line to be done.

Recently bought a wadkin 9 bft for £250 on gumtree, three phase motor but a £75 VFD solved that problem. Needed new cutterhead bearings for £10 and now is a pleasure to use. However it takes up masses of space in my small workshop (12'x8' shed). All that said I would not go back to a light weight machine.
