Got back at the lathe this week and turned these out for Mrs Ps summer fete.
I got carried away doing them and was told there was plenty, they do get addictive trying the differing colour variations.
Also put some stain on the four Tea lighters that i have had for some time which nobody liked as they were just plain Beech, but these have already found new homes

Thanks folks :D
The Tea lighters were originaly finished with sanding sealer and woodwax 22 a few years ago and have just been hanging round,so seeing as they still had the mounting sockets i remonted them on the lathe and cleaned all the old finish off, sanded down to 320 grit, then just applied the Chestnut spirit stains, then buffed up on the Chestnut mops using microcrystaline wax.
Greg imitate all you like theres nothing new about em
The spinners are just felt tip colours applied while the lathe is spinning at a slower speed and were also finished using the mop with carnuba wax. :D

No problem Greg.
I used the tool rest to rest my hand and tips on when applying the felt tips made it a lot easier for me too
I had no idea about the top either so i just put some 2" square stock on that i had a nd just turned a few practice ones to start until i was happy with what i was doing.I had seen them been turned at shows in the past but never took muchnotice at the time.Give it a go they were fun to do :D

Thanks for the technique. More stuff to add to the next Yandles shopping trip.

They are so well presented im currently experimenting with the spirit staining kits and finding it hard to get a contrast of colour you either got it naturally or you struggle me im the latter but this is something to admire
