Me and my bro are cabinet makers currently working for other people, but are slowly collecting what we need to set up ourselves. Really we are just waiting on some better extraction for the time being as I don't think a wide be,t sander is viable yet! :S

Now that I have got several projects out of the way, I have finally cleaned up the workshop and taken some pictures of what we're working with. It's a little bigger than a double garage but not by much, does help that there aren't cars stored in there though! Here's some pics so far,

Panorama to start, from left to right, saw, powertools, bag press, clamp trolley, small bench, compressor, spindle moulder, hand tools, planer/thicknesser, extractor, bench with cupboards.

Griggio saw came up on eBay at the right time for an amazing price, 4kw running on a transwave static converter, runs at 10 amps.

I'd be lost without this stuff, it's safe to say its an addiction. There's a bunch of festool stuff, a lamello c3 and a bag press that comes out occasionally.

Can't stand dust so use extraction with everything even if it makes it a little awkward.

This extractor needs upgrading as it was only a cheap eBay win for the time being, it fills up far too quickly.

We are running two small compressors connected together, generally only the smaller compressor is turned on and once the tanks are full it keeps up enough for the blower/spraying.

We haven't used the spindle yet as don't have much tooling for it and haven't needed it really, it just came at the right time again. Spares are hard to find but according to axminster who used to stock these, most of their industrial machines have the same parts, it's been converted to 240v which saves us unplugging the saw too.

Most of the clamps are silverline but they're actually not bad, the f clamps area little flexible but the g clamps are fine, we use the 3 way lipping clamps a lot and they were only about £2 each!

My toolbox is mainly full of little jigs and pencils, the basics are there, tenon saw, dovetail saw and Japanese saw, clifton no5, no4 and a lie Nielsen block plane, I like the bahco 424 chisels because they are soft enough to easily resharpen and flatten the backs but the handles are good in case they need a good hammering :)

The kity is great, it handles chunky timber perfectly, the only downside to the 2636 is that you have to check the squaring fence every time you convert back to planing mode, have been planing up 100 square oak at 2200mm long recently with no problems, as long as its supported at the end when going in and coming out. It's got an axminster digital readout which is perfectly calibrated out the box to the gauge on the machine and calipers!

These will get fitted to a bench once we have one that suits.

At the minute these are the only wall units but the plan is to remove all the wooden shelving and replace it with these, it means the machines can go further back and give us more floor space, at the minute there's only a radio and beer in those! (The essentials)

(Yes I will get round to strait ending that far left cupboard at some point)

That's all for now, there's some 100mm extraction hose on order ad the plan is to get one of these to to upstairs and out of the way to duct the machinery properly.

Any questions about anything, please ask, happy to help as far as I can.

Thanks

Alex

No we just stripped them and sent them to be powder coated and thought white with walnut cheeks would go. :)

I've got the Bahco 424 chisels, as you say they're nice to use and fettle, however I wish I'd bought imperial, not metric. I don't think they do metric. I didn't get the holsters with mine, did you get the holsters?

Mine are the 424p models I have a 4,6,12,18 and 25mm, yeah they have the holders too.

Thanks

Alex
