Jessops high speed shutters.

No, we shouldn't joke, this is a very negative time for them.

Still waiting for news to develop

Jessups and downs of running a retail outlet thes days.

I wonder how many of their staff were people transferred from independent camera stores that Jessops took over in the past?

Mind you, if they had failed around 10 - 15 years ago I might have been somewhat better off. :?

I can see why Jessups failed, not only with the online availability of cameras but also the development in technology resulting in most of us carrying cameras with us on our phones.

there will always be a demand for camera shops, and now you will probably find smaller specialist retailers picking up the business again for the specialist market - Exactly how Jessups initially started in Leicester.

As a lad I remember travelling to Leicester with my father (a very keen amateur photographer) many a time as it was the only place he could buy the camera equipment he wanted.

What goes around comes around and all that

The trouble for the independants now is that people have got used to trying equipment out in the shop then going home and buying it cheaper online.

Perhaps they need to go the way of Euronics, a network of Independant shops.
