Is this safe?

I've just seen a Delta single-speed scroll-saw on E-bay
Seller is including a dimmer switch which he says he uses to vary the speed of the saw.
I'm no electrician but I wouldn't have thought this would be a good idea for either the motor or the user.
Is this safe?

Splintez, I seen on other forums with the same question and the responses were all NO. It will not work.
I would not buy it, there are better saws on different sites for-sale.

Can you get it for a good price?

The dimmer can always be removed and replaced with a cord and plug.
