I like doing wood carving to so I made this I'm not sure what the wood is so if you know please do tell

Looking at the "spalting" on the edge I would go for Beech.

If you zoom in on the lhs of the third pic you can clearly see the tale tale fleck of beech.

Did you hack out all the waste with chisels, or did you use something faster for the rough stages?
