Bit of an experiment this one, not for any purpose.

As you can see from the picture, the rim has coloured pencils glued into it about, 10mm deep or so.

Following a bit of a dig in  , i ended up turning closer to the pencils than i was originally going for.
On the inside, you can see evidence of the glue (pva) where it has seeped through the ash.

Anyone got any bright ideas to hide it..?

I am considering using the same as the inlay I put around the outside, either that, or paint it somehow...

Do you have sealer on yet?
Applying sealer may well disguise the blotches.

Any spare pieces of Ash? try contaminating spots with PVA, then:-

Try sanding sealer, cellulose or water based acrylic.

Or over paint with diluted PVA to see if Ash surface takes on a more uniform shade.

Tried sanding with wet sealer, but it just made them darker.

I decided to spray the inside with some cold galv spray
Once dried, I burnished it a bit to darken it down and bring the grain back out.... looks almost graphitey, so sort of in keeping with the pencil theme. Looks okay-ish.

I will upload a picture tomorrow. The whole thing is a bit busy I think, but it was experimental... Hopefully learned from the mistakes with it too, so worth doing it :)

I really like the sharpenings set in the epoxy, I think i will do that again.

Here is the finished article for anyone interested how it turned out.

That's really cool, I can see my youngest daughter liking that ( bit of an artist ).
Really like the contrast the inner treatment has created, well done :)
