Hello everybody,

I have a little problem about veneering a panel with feathered Mahogany, the surface is flat and the problem is that the only mahogany I found has many cracks and a lot of waves, fortunately no holes and\or parts missing.
The piece of furniture I'm restoring (secretaire, we call that kind of piece) has four strips of veneer and I'm going to do the same on the front panel.

I only use animal water\based glue and I thought to wet the veneer and press it between two flat surfaces until nearly dry, then starting the job.
But something in my mind tells me I'm making some mistake, any advice about it?

thanks in advance

Giacomo

Hi Giacomo

I have it almost right but I would not wait until the veneer has dried, just make sure it is flat but not too wet.

This will help it not to crack when you are working with it and make sure that you have the veneer damp and not wet.

I hope that helps

Regards Colin
