I'm pretty new to wood woodwork, I've just bought my self a table saw, not the best on the market but suits me, it's Screwfix's Titan table saw. I have a Titan Hoover for my garage however despite them being the same make the dust extraction on the saw doesn't fit the hoover! I practically spent more time cleaning the garage then I did doing something productive!

Also I have a Titan mitre saw and have the same problem.

My workshop is my garage as well so need to keep it reasonably dust free, any suggestions??

Don't really have much budget to upgrade to a full scale dust extraction!

Thanks for looking!

dust and woodworking go hand in hand really, even with proper dust extraction I still have to go round with brush and hoover. A ceiling mounted particle filter will take smaller and more dangerous dust particles out of the air to some extent.

There are literally hundreds of threads on here about dust extraction, so i'm not getting too far into it, but there is one important issue you must think about.
Wood dust is a killer, it will clog the lungs of you AND your family.
Dont let cost stop you from protecting your family.
think of it like a hot rod car...
you buy all the expensive engine and gearbox, but dont really want to buy any brakes= disaster dead ahead.

Have a look at your saw to see whether there are any gaps you can seal up so the suction is concentrated where you need it. (Duct tape is your friend.)

Forgetting whether the extractor is powerful enough to cope with the machines in question there is no reason you can't achieve adaptor fittings to make the supplied hose fit your machines.
Even if you can't run to purchasing one of the various stepped cuffs/collar systems made for this then using old washing up bottles etc. and some duct tape can make up workable solutions.

With your mitre saw you need to make yourself some form of rear/side enclosure to funnel the debris to the rear for collection, the more you can funnel the airflow towards your collection point the better you will entrap the dust.

At Thanks for your comments, I've gone for a bottle of fabric softener duct taped to the extraction port with the hoover model duct taped inside the bottle. Works perfectly!

www.rutlands.co.uk have a sale on right now. I bought a 1100w dust extractor with 100mm wide hose for £69. Absolute brilliant deal.

The 100mm hose won't fit everything, if you go to www.yandles.co.uk they do loads of adapter rings to fit your machines.
