Amazing stuff but not that new in reality. I had a motorbike accident 35 years ago and at that time "full fat" skin grafts were routinely done in this sort of way. For example if a (thick) flap of skin from the stomach was needed for a leg the flap would first be attached to the patient's arm and then once all settled down and blood flowing correctly the flap was detached from the stomach and then attached (with your arm) to the leg. You'd stay like that for some time (weeks) and then it would be detached from the arm and fixed to the leg permanently. A bit of (thin) skin grafting to the stomach and arm to complete the process.....
