Does anyone have experience of this sander? It would appear similar to the RIGID brand machine sold in the US which receives great reviews.

However the internal workings of such a machine are of much consideration. I had a Delta brand oscillating bench top sander some years ago untill I found out the gearing on the spindles were nylon which were prone to stripping therefore rendering the machine useless. Spares I establioshed were almost as much as the new machine. I sold it and bought a JET model.

However if the gearing on the Rutlands machine are metal it may be a useful tool for a hobby shop.

I've got the older, bobbin only version. It gets hammered on a regular basis in a commercial workshop and is still delivering sterling service. The one you linked to looks even better!

Reassuring to hear, I have my sanding needs covered although I like the versitility of the bobbin and belt, which is very popular in US hobby workshops.
