Here is this weeks mystery tool, found in a bucket of rust for 10p:

any ideas what it is for?
Widget01.jpg

There is a stamped logo of a spanner and pr of dividers and the letters USAG.

It seems it for some sort of crimping or other but I really don't know.

There is no adjustment on the thing thatI can see.
All thoughts welcome.

I reckon Dave might have it.

Just a couple of obvious observations -

1. It affords considerable leverage with the double lever arrangement
2. There appears to be some sort of rack machined on the underside of the top bit with screws through it. Is this to aid repositioning the slot (eg for more offset in the joggle?

Chris,

Interesting point re the adjustment; thats what I thought at first but the two machine screws that secure the end plate with the 'rack' have fixed not slotted holes as does the rack itself ie can only go in a single fixed position. Maybe there are extra end plates of different sizes?

So, a joggle tool it is then! :D :D

Thanks guys!
regards
martin
