1/8 Plywood

Hi

I need to cut small rectangles shapes of 1/8 Ply.

What is the best way of cutting it to avoid splits etc.

Should I be looking to get it done by Laser or CNC - or is there a hand tool / saw that will do it ?

You haven't said how large they are or how many, as this may sway the answer one way or the other.

Make a stack of 8 layers, clamped up tight, cut to size, discard top and bottom layers as these will be splintered. 6 good ones, 2 rubbish.
Can be cut with sharp tenon saw, careful sanding if needed.

I'd sandwich them between two pieces of timber or MDF for cutting. If more than can be cut conveniently in one go, use the cuts in the MDF as saw guides for the next lot.

Masking tape, Stanley knife to cut the top veneer, then saw to finish the job. There are many ways. If you want a truly "perfect" edge then you might struggle with ply, it depends what you view as "no splits".
