old band saw... good buy ?

I have an old Wilson, looks a bit similar to the first one you posted. It is BIG and heavy. That one doesn't seem to have any guards or enclosures etc. so dust extraction will be difficult. They sound like an airplane taking off when starting, mine is 5 horsepower, I was afraid of it at...

    mountable vernier guages

The intention isn't to sell it. The point is if businesses can't follow through there should be consequences. People spend hard earned money and some companies don't seem to care if they made a mistake. The £60 is for the company to buy it back, i've sent them a link, and they have replied...

    mountable vernier guages

    Woodpecker or Jessum

The new woodpecker lift looks amazing. A bit out of my price range though. I like the fine adjustment it has and the quick release to lift the router for bit changing. I'm not in the market for one but if i was The woodpecker would be the one.

I guess it's just better to have companies run all over us with no accountability

    mountable vernier guages

unfortunate situation with the guage. They sent the wrong one and when i emailed them to exchange or refund they did not reply. So i've listed it on ebay so people can see just how good their service is...

    Brother's Birthday present

It is a practical piece. Nice wide arm rests. My partner likes it, but I don't. I can definitely say i like the joinery though. Not sure what joints you used but I assume that you've built it to last. I'm not one for a lot of the modern styles that are coming out, but then again this is...

Advice on building kitchen cabinets and tools needed please.

That's just shocking. Reminds me of a time i walked into a house i had to do some work with black walnut because three other joiners had attempted and the job was rejected by the owner. I walked in to see black walnut everywhere. The floors, doors, cabinets, etc... I was standing there...

Advice on building kitchen cabinets and tools needed please.

I love when these types of threads come up. People get quite opinionated and passionate about their work, which i don't see as a bad thing. I personally use Plywood. I don't like MDF or melamine, that being said i've worked with companies that do use it. There is a difference in quality of...

    MILWAUKEE MS305DB

I've not used this saw. I owned a biggish finishing company in Canada with 34 guys and seen all sorts of saws in action, but not this one. The three main ones that i can recommend are the Makita, Dewalt, and the Bosh. However The dewalt i found clumsy and the bosh had to many options to...

    My workspace area.

Very creative chair. Surely that couldn't be made from wood could it? It looks way to delicate a design for what would could offer. How was the course did you like it? Did you have prior experience? What did you take from the course? No i don't mean stolen tools etc...

Workshop Design - well it's a build really.

If you have 8 inches of concrete there why would you be worried about screwing into it? Wouldn't the damp proof membrane be under it? screwing in a 8 inch bolt through a four inch piece of wood leaves four inches before you even reach the membrane. Doesn't it? Why did you need an eight inch...

    Best budget, corded SDS drill????

I bought the fist one on your list from the same place. It lasted me for 6 months hard use and then fell apart in the middle of a job. I think these things are hit and miss with the cheapy ones. Some people get lucky and they last a long time while others don't get off so easy. The next...

    workshop build

Well it's very nice and has settled into the property nicely as well. Really looks like it belongs there. Not like mine it sticks out like a sore thumb and takes up half the garden much to my partners dismay. However she likes that i work at home, she works part time so we get to see each...

Workshop Design - well it's a build really.

I'm trying to understand the predicament your in Dibs-h. Is screed just a top coat on an already existing cement slab? From the pictures of the floor it looks like there is nothing there. What I would do which will probably be shot down by others would be to level off the dirt floor inside...

    New from Veritas

depends on what you mean about issues. It will be shipped at some expense and there will be vat and the parcel forces letter asking you to drop your drawers and pay them for the privilege of having them collect the vat on behalf of the government. Other then that no issues at all. I'm not...

    Router table insert

I"m happy with either options of 3 and 4 depending on what is more popular. Thanks for clarification on the size by the way. 8 mm sounds better as well. Wow sounds like we are getting somewhere. A pretty hard thing to organize with so many people involved, Good job. I thought this might of...
