    Lucky skip find!

Thanks for the link BugBear it was the site i looked at last night, and yes a little intimidating, so i think for this time i will have this and another saw i have, done proffesionally. Next thing is to find a reliable sharpening service!!

    Lucky skip find!

The blade is straight and the steel in good condition, handle has all the original finish (and some unoriginal paint drips) and is tight with no play. The teeth however need some attention and after spending last evening researching saw filing i'm in two minds as to tackling it myself, any ideas...

    Which tool would I use

If you must use the same piece of MDF my recomendation would be to use a cicular saw and plunge cut on each side then finish with a handsaw to corners, i often use this method when cutting worktops for sinks and hobs as it gives a far superior finish than a jigsaw. However thats a good 4mm kerf...

If you haven't glued could you not simply turn the horizontal rails over and fix from the back? :?

    Which tool would I use

You could always save your tool money and buy another piece of MDF! Must be cheaper than a fein, then you could cut out a precision square to fit in a perfect hole. :)

    Lucky skip find!

Just when you think the only luck you seem to get is bad! Pocket hole jigs.

Yo_chuci I have the Kreg K3 bought from Axminster comes with clamp and some screws to get you started. I think that for what you want a PHJ is an excelent choice certainly no cheat, i have used mine for kitchen carcasses, face frames and many small boxing in jobs on site and think they are...

    sliding mitre saw...A NO NO?

Absolutely agree with Rich on this one You must pull out, chop down, and push the blade away. I use a SCMS almost every day at work and i can tell you that if you pull the blade and it 'bites' into the timber it can propel itself towards you and any misplaced digits at an alarming rate.!

Whats wrong with a stacked dado?

Many thanks for all the replies on this, It would seem that it is a good topic to re-visit once in a while. FWIW i believe that used sensibly and with guarding a dado cutter is as safe to use as many of our other tools, my saw however does not have the capacity to use one and maybe thats a good...

Whats wrong with a stacked dado?

Hi all I've been catching up on some NYW, and many thanks to Neilc for the link, it appears every project Norm builds invariably he uses his stacked dado head cutter. It seems to me to be very efficient and i am struggling to see why us woodworkers here are stopped from using them. I realise of...
