3m saw guide rail. How straight is straight?

As has been mentioned above, the friction guides. The design isn't great for really straight cuts unless you reset them regularly and always have a few sets spareif you need to be that critical. I like my makita over the Festool for a couple of features but super accurate cuts isn't one of them.

    Starter lathe

There are lots of positive thoughts on the forum about this lathe (AWVSL 1000), I have had one for a couple of years and find it a nice piece of kit. the one drawback that I know of (and it's not major) is that in some curcumstances the speed handle can get in the way slightly. (another member...

    is it just me or..

I took mine off and turned it through 180 degrees, it was a little bit of messing around but fairly straightforward as i recall, it's now not in the way as much for me. Down side to this is that the speed lever is directly over the big red stop button when it's running at full tilt. Not ideal...

Black & Decker Workmate - Do you?

This looks like a nice idea if you are short on space and want a bench. http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Axmi ... -21593.htm you have just got to have more money than space :? My workmate now has a much bigger top than standard due to someone not knowing how to set the depth on a circular...

    12v drill

Neil, Like you i have Ryobi and I find nothing wrong with it, I don't think it's as good as Makita or Hitachi etc but it's not the same price either. The thing is brand names get bought out and passed on and it's not that often that a brand improves. I have an Atlas Copco drill (part of the AEG...

    £500 bandsaw

I recently got a JWBS 18 from ebay for £530, But had to collect it. The week after Axminster sold the same machine on Ebay for the same £530 they deliver so perhaps looking out for one there could be an option. I got a quote from one of the couriers to pick a machine up and that came in at round...

CIRCULAR SAW BLADE VS MITRE ARE THE SAME?

You need a negative rake blade for cutting aluminium and as far as I know any blade listed as for cutting metal will have that negative rake, I use them a lot (DW712) and have not found any that don't. Usual advice to a degree. better cuts with more teeth, Hold the workpiece FIRMLY. DON'T cut...

    DW712 - Dewalt mitre saw - can I resharpen a 80T blade ?

Rob, there are two torx type screws on the blade guard, the front one only accesable by lifting the plastic part of the guard out of the way. slacken the rear one slightly, the front one more so so that it comes out enough to allow the stop onthe metal part past the screw. this allows the blade...

    Has anyone?

I have silverline blades and they cut wood, no argument there, I still have them in the wrapper as they came as a multi pack. I USE Trend or freud blades on anything other than firewood. It's a personal choice but I would suggest you try to compare them side to side, then you will know, it...
