You need to get together with that Ian Dalziel fellow - I think he's got a couple of jet engines knocking about in his workshop   Just pop the engines in; hang the Harrier from the workshop ceiling & you've got instant 100% dust extraction with those vectored thrust nozzles :D :D

I think they saw me coming!

I don't know if the price is particularly good or bad, but you can do the conversion quite easily in Google. Just put into the Google search engine :- 1485 cu ft in cu m and the answer 42.0505172 cu m will be the price per cu ft If you can't quite get your head round that you can also...

    easy to build mobile base

Hi DW Haven't seen that design before - as you imply, it does look as though the machine might wobble a bit on the 2x4s unless they're locked in the down position somehow. Have you seen Norms Work Table design ? - the one with the casters mounted on a board that hinges down when you lift up...

    Exploding lightbulbs!

I found this reference while googling around on this subject. Assuming its to be believed - it says :- Light bulbs Break or Pop Off Their Bases when they Burn Out: a) Some off-brand bulbs and a few production runs of "Big Three" bulbs have been known to lack internal fuse wires. The current...

    Problems drawing small items

Can't see it either - using IE6/XP Pro. It must be something to do with it being a .PNG - I can see it if I save it to a file & then view it with Paint or Windows Picture & Fax Viewer - don't you just love Windows :) ( err NO, not really  ) The image in your other thread was a .JPG...

    Windows update virus

Hi DW That sounds like an alert from Norton Internet Security that you haven't run Windows Update recently (or else that its detected that new Windows Updates are available that you havent installed yet) - no doubt a consequence of you galavanting around the European countryside for weeks...

I'm looking for......some pictures of carved saw handles

Hi Ian Theres a few carved saw handles that show up here on Google images - if thats any help, although they all look fairly similar. Theres also some Dragon Handles here but not on saws - if you keep poking through Google Images you might find something you can adapt. Richard

I was going to make a new bench but!!!

Seems pretty good value - or so I thought until I found this one at Axminster - almost identical but about half the price, although its even lighter (28kg instead of your 38kg). If you go for either of them & want to use them for hand planing etc then I'd add plenty of cross-bracing to the legs...

Are your projects not getting the recognition they deserve?

Well, at that price he needs talk it up a bit doesnt he. $25 for a bit of skirting board with a groove cut in it - pah, I'll take ten. (Thats baseboard with a dado cut in it for the Norm-fixated :D :D :D ) Richard

GWW - Is it just me missing the lack of projects?

No, Paul, me too - definitely a strange & somewhat worrying thing to say in public - exactly which American magazines does he think GWW is in competition with ? - its not as if GWW is in the same market as FWW is it ? I can't comment on the other US magazine that seems to get mentioned around...

    Router Bush Clearance Online Calculator

Hi Neo Trend also do metric "Precision Steel Guide Bushes" most of which are quite a reasonable price - the even-sized ones are mostly £3.11 or £3.70 from Axminster here - they also do a set of 12 for £20.05 which I'm planning on buying next time I order from them. Richard

    DADO ADVICE

Also - due to the direction of rotation, router cutters are always trying to pull the router to the left when the router is being used in hand held mode & viewed from above, so if youre running the router base against a guide board its important to have the guide board on the left of the router...

    Router

Hi Paul You didnt say what max collet size or type of use you were interested in, so here are a few different options - all of which I use, or have used, & would happily recommend and buy again if I had to :- For hand-held routing - a DeWalt DW621K (currently £159 at DM Tools) - 1100 Watts...
