Haven't seen that design before - as you imply, it does look as though the machine might wobble a bit on the 2x4s unless they're locked in the down position somehow.

Have you seen Norms Work Table design ? - the one with the casters mounted on a board that hinges down when you lift up one side of the machine/base a little that also has 2 other boards that hinges down & lock the caster board in place - the 2 lock boards are joined by a piece of rope that allows you to pull them up out the way allowing the caster board to hinge out of the way when you raise the machine/base a little & then lower it again. Probably as clear as mud after that explanation :roll: - hopefully the drawing (& 'see photo' link) in the link above will make it somewhat clearer.

The easiest way I can think of to secure the feet when in the down position, is a panhead screw in the end of each 4" X 2" and a strip of metal with a slot in either end to drop over the screws, or a couple of keyhole holes.
