    Long bowl gouge grind how?

Totally agree Tam. I was quite shocked when I noticed it wasn't there. I've had the grinder for about 6 months but it hasn't seen a lot of use to be honest. It was purchased from Axminster so I'm hoping they will be understanding. (Well after last weeks dealings I cannot complain). Cheers

    Long bowl gouge grind how?

 Will post pics very soon. It's really nothing special, but it has certainly helped with the quality of sharpening. Chas, can you do me a favour and take a look on the right hand side wheel on your grinder. I noticed my white wheel was running with vibration so dropped the side cover...

Well true to there word, The old unit was collected today and the new 'beast' arrived on a seperate delivery just after lunch. When I say 'beast' I'm not joking, Thankfully when mounted on the joists it wont be too bad, noise level is more than the previous unit but is to be expected. Just...

Hi All, Thought I'd pass on my experience today and give some recognition of Axminster customer service. I'm still on the learning slope with the turning but finally create items that gets the seal of approval from the wife. My 'workshop' is my garage that is quite large and allows the me to...

Impressive work Andrew. I can imagine that it's a tricky process doing the hollowing. Nice shape too.

    Ideal lathe height

Hi, I went through exactly the same query on here. I ended up about 80mm above elbow height and it made a big difference. Also I purchased a 'cheap' rubber mat from Aldi that certainly feels better when standing on for long sessions. Shaun

    Axminster M950

Bob, I picked up the white model of ebay and think its a cracking lathe. My only complaint (which is discussed on here somewhere) is that the if you use a typical faceplate with anything big, the motor endcap protrudes enough for the wood your turning to foul on. No problem if you use a chuck...

    Starting to go Cold Turkey.....

Well guys a change in plan...... Taking the Advise of Chas I put the 'roughed' blank into a polythene bag and it's still showing signs of moisture so guess it needs more time. I made a doughnout chuck following plans I found on google and was interrupted when the wife called in to see...
