Yew Goblet

[Dalboy]

While the Oil finish was drying on the coloured Chestnut burr I made this goblet as I wanted to do a spiral on a stem.

Measures 7" X 3". I did have a catch which wrecked the foot but managed to find a piece of yew and roughly match that to the rest as I had put too much in to the spiral Ok 15 minutes into the spiral. Finished with lemon oil and woodwax22

That I like Derek, well rescued on the foot, if you had not fessed up I doubt anyone would have spotted it.

Good work on the spiral, combined a good measure of structural enhancement with natural features to form an overall balance.

Thank you Chas. This was not how I planned the end look I just knew I was going to turn a goblet but with a more conventional stem. When I got to that section I thought about having a play with my spiralling and texturing tool which is underused

I used the Robert Sorby texturing and spiralling tool I brought it off e bay at well under 1/2 price otherwise I would not have paid what the price was even back when I brought it.
