i don't think, (looking at the website) it's a full blown show as they do in Apr & Sep but still worth a trip.

Mmmmm can i work a trip to Festool demo day as well.....
"Luv, you know you wanted to look at carpets....well....."

I might be able to make this - I could really do with some more timber, are their boards arranged in a self-service style arrangement or are they like a traditional merchant where they choose the boards - I gather it's the former, but I just wanted to check.

Yes the former, it's a shed full of boards each one marked up with a price. No need to wally around with the elitist ("you're a hobbyist, you'll get what I give you and like it") staff you usually find down the woodyard.

Cheers Mike

While we're on the subject of shows, is anybody going to Kempton Park next month? Looks like the biggest and best show in my part of the world, and I have been given the green light for a Saturday visit despite it being SWMBOs b'day weekend  \:D/

Edit:  #-o Just ignore me - a quick search found me the thread all about this which I missed last week when I wasn't paying attention.

I plan to pop down there, need a new chuck for the lathe!
with regards to arsy timber yards there is one near me which is very helpful and deals with hobby just as good as trade buyers, they are called interesting timbers, specialising in english hardwoods they do turning blanks too. periodically auction off old stock too!
here is their website if anyones interested, http://www.interestingtimbers.co.uk/
it is a proper old fashioned sawmill type place, dirt floors etc. I get all of my stuff from them now, they don't do panel products though.
