Does anyone know of any companies around W. Yorks who specialise in clearing out woodworking shops? I have a garage full of hobbyist machines I need to get rid of and don't particularly want to try selling it all one item at a time.

There was a chap in heckmondwike or batley or somewhere like that that would clear places like schools. I cant think of his name, but it will come to me. I bought a planer from him.

That said, if it is hobbist machines, a dealer would probably give you so little that you may as well not bother. depending on what you have, i would probably put them as a job lot on here or ebay.

you could try a local auction house

That's what I would do. They will advertise it and do it at your premises, buyers take the gear away. You get the dosh less commission.

it is a garage. i cannot believe that it is going to be worthwhile holding an auction there.

The problem we are trying to help with is selling the kit in one go, the OP didn't say if he could, or could not move it to another location.

If he doesn't like my suggestion, no problem.

Try D B Keighley at Stanningley. I've made several purchases there and found them nice people to deal with. They do buy used tools and machinery.

Sealey 12" Bandsaw
Jet 16" Scrollsaw
Titan Planer Thicknesser
Nutool Chopsaw
Chester DB7V Mini Lathe
Chester 16mm Bench Drill

Let me know what I've missed off.

Thanks for the suggestions lads. I was afraid I might get ripped off even if there were any local 2nd had machine dealers nearby but the idea of a garage sale sound interesting, that, I think, I could probably cope with.
